Ambasador Eldar Hasanov presents Letters of Credence to the President of Montenegro


In October 6, 2010 Ambassador Eldar Hasanov presented the Letters of Credence to H.E. Mr.Filip Vujanovic, President of Montenegro accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Montenegro.

After the presentation ceremony Ambassador and President had private meeting. Congratulating Eldar Hasanov on occasion of his accreditation, Mr.Vujanovic asked Ambbassador to pass his warm greetings to H.E. Mr.Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan adding that he held a great esteem to Azerbaijani President as he remembered his meetings on different occasions. Mr.Vujanovic expressed his desire to pay official visit to Azerbaijan in 2011, mentioning his satisfaction of the possible visit of Azerbaijani President to Montenegro. President of Montenegro stressed the importance of enhancing legal framework of cooperation between two states as a leap towards promotion of bilateral relations.

During the meeting Mr.Vujanovic stated that his country supports sovereignty, territorial integrity and justly position of the Republic of Azerbaijan regarding Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Focusing on Azerbaijan-Serbia relations, President stressed that two countries should deploy all the opportunities to enhance friendship relations. Having expressed his interest to develop bilateral relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Montenegro in all spheres Mr.Vujanovic told that Azerbaijan conducts independent foreign policy and balanced energy policy.

President Vujanovic provided the Ambassador with all the necessary information on Montenegro regarding political, economic and general character, than he identified its priorities with regard to the EU and NATO integration processes, underlining positive role which Montenegro has been playing at the level of regional stability and its engagement at global level in accordance with obligations it has as UN member and from its foreign-policy priorities viewpoint. President assessed high levels of achievement of multiethnic and multi-religious harmony in Montenegro, which recommend it as stable and progressive society, as continuity of Montenegrin approach to the highest standards of protection of human and minority rights in Europe that are already rooted in our tradition. At the level of bilateral cooperation, he underlined increasing of economic exchange by providing precise suggestions.

Ambassador Eldar Hasanov in his turn reciprocated all good expressions and informed Prezident about current political, economic and social status of Azerbaijan emphasizing that successful domestic and foreign policy of Azerbaijan that is carried out by Mr.Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan is completely in line with safeguarding political stability, economic prosperity and fully supported by Azerbaijani nation.

Briefing on the aggression policy of Armenia against Azerbaijan, Ambassador Eldar Hasanov stated that Armenia still rejects to obey the requirements of relevant UN Resolutions, relevant decisions and documents of OSCE and other international organizations which express unequivocal respect and support of sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan with its internationally recognized borders, demand immediate withdrawal of all Armenian forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.

In the end, Ambassador conveyed his assurance that existing good contacts between two Presidents, interests of states, high level bilateral visits will create more incentives for the development and stimulation of bilateral and multilateral relations. For his part, H.E. Mr. Hasanov stated his willingness to commit, to the extent of personal ability, to improvement of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Montenegro.
