Bucharest celebrates Novruz Holiday

Bucharest celebrated Novruz holiday with the support of Azerbaijani Embassy in Romania and representation of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Romania in March 21, 2010. Opening the event ambassador Eldar Hasanov informed the participants about the peculiarity of Novruz holiday in the customs and traditions of Azerbaijani people. Ambassador also mentioned that under the initiative of Azerbaijan UN General Assembly adopted relevant resolution on "International Day of Novruz" which recognized and proclaimed 21 March as International Day of Novruz.

Former ambassador of Romania in Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan Tasin Cemil briefed the participants about Novruz holiday in details.

Then a concert program was held with participation of the soloist of the "Azerbaijan State Theatre of Mugam" Sadagat Guluyeva, accompanied by a musical group, as well as the famous Romanian musician Marcel Pavel.

The event was attended by the Prime Minister of Romania Emil Boc, Vice-chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of Romanian Parliamnet Ioan Oltean, Adviser of President on National Security of Romania Iulian Fota, other high officials, senators and deputies, prominent religious and cultural figures, heads and representatives of diplomatic missions accredited to Romania, the Iranian Azerbaijanis and representatives of Turkic-Tatar community, the representation of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Romania, the Romania-Azerbaijan Friendship Society, Romanian-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce and Industry, members of public organizations and foundations of Romania, staff of the SOCAR representation in Romania, Azerbaijanis residing and studying in Romania and representatives of the media outlets.
