18th Anniversary of Khodjali Genocide commemorated.
On the 26th of February, 2010 the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Representation of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Romania held commemorative ceremony of 18th Anniversary of Khodjali Genocide.
The members of Romanian-Azerbaijan Friendship Society, Azerbaijan-Romania Culture and Youth Society and Romania-Azerbaijan Chamber of Trade and Commerce, staff of SOCAR Representation in Romania, former and current Romanian senators, deputies, Azerbaijanis living and studying in Romania, Turkic-Tatar communities, Iranian Azerbaijanis, Romanian students, representatives of Embassies and international organizations accredited to Romania, NGO's dealing with human rights and other fields, as well as representatives of mass media were invited to the event.
In its opening speech Ambassador Eldar Hasanov requested participants to observe one minute silence in memory of victims of the Genocide. Stressing that Khodjali Genocide has gone into the history as unforgettable, terrible and bloody days, Mr.Hasanov briefed on painful consequences of mass massacre committed by Armenians, adding that the genocide act is being commemorated in many world countries.
Later on, Director of Representation of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Romania Mr.Igbal Hajiyev, Chairman of Democratic Organization of Romania Muslim Tatar Turks, author of a poem dedicated to Khodjali Tragedy Mr.Kiyaseddin Uteu, Head of the Youth Group Association who visited Baku in November 2009 under the initiative of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Chairman of Youth Parliament of 2nd sector municipality of Bucharest Ms.Alexandra Dobra, Chairman of Bucharest Writers Association Mr.Horia Garbae and other intellectuals delivered speeches, sharing their impressions on Khodjali Tragedy.
Participants got familiar with booklets from series of "True facts of Karabakh" which were issued by Heydar Aliyev Foundation, books named "Khodjali Genocide in documents, facts and foreign press", "Armenian myth, Armenian Extremism: Reasons and Historical Overview", "Khodjali Tragedy" and "Armenian (non) folk tales". Later on, photo exhibition depicting the Khodjali Tragedy was demonstrated.
Press-release about the Khodjali Tragedy was submitted to Romanian Parliament, official state authorities, NGO's, Embassies and international organizations accredited to Romania. Romanian mass media, particularly "Replica" "Hayat" "Zaman" "Anayurt" and "Ultima Ora" highlighted the event.
Representatives of Romanian Association of Writers, Administration of Bucharest Writers Association, people from Cultural Center, diplomats, artists, writers, journalists, students, members of Turkish and Tatar societies and Azerbaijani diaspora were present at the Conference.
