Cultural Center of Bucharest hosts one of the series of events dedicated to Khodjali Genocide
In the framework of series of events dedicated to 18th Anniversary of Khodjaly Tragedy Conference entitled "Live fire - Impressions on Azerbaijan" was held in February 22, 2010 at the premises of Cultural Center of the Second Sector of Bucharest. The event was organized with the support of Bucharest Writers Association, Representation of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Romania and the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Romania.
Chairman of Bucharest Writers Association Dr.Horia Garbea shared his impressions about Azerbaijan and demonstrated photo gallery. He briefed on painful consequences of aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan, focusing on vandalisms committed by Armenian armed forces in Khodjaly, which has went down into the history as one of the bloody events of the 20th century. Romanian writer also introduced serious facts regarding 20th January Tragedy and Guba mass grave.
Later on, Mr.Fakhri Karimly attache of the Embassy gave broad information about Armenian aggression mentioning that over 1 million Azerbaijani people has become refugees and IDPs (internally displaced persons) as a result of ethnic cleansing and expressed his gratitude to Romanian state for its just stance in the conflict resolution.
Director of the Representation of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Romania Mr.Igbal Hajiyev highlighted about the Campaign "Juctice for Khodjlali". His speech was preceded by the speech of Ms.Mihaela Popescu Coordinator of Cultural Center, Head of Youth Parliament of 2nd Sector Municipality of Bucharest Ms.Alexandra Dobra and Chairman of Romania-Azerbaijan Friendship Society Mr.Dumitru Balan.
The representatives of outstanding news agencies, namely "TVR Cultural", "Radio Romania", "Romania Literara", "Luceafarul", "Cultura", "Viata Romeanasca", "Observatorul Cultural", "Evenimentul Zilei", "Adevarul", "Jurnalul National", "Rompress", "Mediafax" and "Newsin" took the record of the event.
The books of Azerbaijani authors which were translated into Romanian by the support of Representation of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Romania as well as booklets from the series of "True facts about Karabakh" issued by the said Representation were demonstrated and disseminated among the participants in the event.
Representatives of Romanian Association of Writers, Administration of Bucharest Writers Association, people from Cultural Center, diplomats, artists, writers, journalists, students, members of Turkish and Tatar societies and Azerbaijani diaspora were present at the Conference.
