A delegation led by President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is visiting Romania. During the visit, the delegation met with the leadership of Petrom and Petrom-OMW petroleum refinery to discuss the prospects of further cooperation.

        The opening ceremony of SOCAR office, which brought together the officials, heads of oil companies, members of Azerbaijan Diaspora and diplomats, took place July 12 in Romania.

        The same day, President of Romania Traian Basescu received SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev. Mr. Abdullayev told of success has gained in oil and gas industry of Azerbaijan over the past years. Mr. Basescu underlined that the government of Romania attaches high significance to development of the relations with Azerbaijan. Romania's President stressed the Azerbaijan's particular role in Europe's energy security.

        The sides shared views on other issues of mutual concern.
