A LITERARY EVENING DEDICATED TO THE CELEBRATION OF 510 YEARS OF BIRTH OF THE GREAT POET AND
PHILOSOPHER MOHAMMED FIZULI AND A PRESENTATION
OF FIZULI'S "LEYLI AND MEDJNUN" POEM TRANSLATED
INTO ROMANIAN TOOK PLACE IN BUCHAREST
On March 7, 2007 in Bucharest, at the Foundation named after the well-known Romanian diplomat Nicolae Titulescu, with the support of the Embassies of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkey in Romania, there took place a literary evening dedicated to the celebration of 510 years of birth of the great poet and philosopher Mohammed Fizuli and the presentation of Fizuli's "Leyli and Medjnun" poem translated into Romanian.
Representatives of the Romanian Writers' Union, of the Azerbaijani, Turkish and Tatar communities, mass-media, ministries of Romania, members of Parliament, scientists, artists, as well as heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Bucharest took part in the event.
During the event the ambassador of Turkey to Romania, Ahmet Rifat Okcun, the ambassador of Azerbaijan to Romania, Eldar Hasanov, the general secretary of the "N.Titulescu" Fund, George Lupes, the member of the Romanian Writes' Union Nicolae Mares made speeches. The professor of the Bucharest University and specialist in Turkish philology, who is the translator of Fizuli's work into Romanian, Nevzat Yusuf, presented a speech on "Fuzuli's Personality and Activity".
Also, there was presented the poem "Leyli and Medjnun" in Romanian, edited by the publishing house "Criterion". The book was published with the support of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Romania. During the literary evening there were read gazelles and excerpts in Turkish and Romanian of Fizuli's poem "Leyli and Medjnun".
